Acoustic Instruments Part 1: The Silver Queen

.

I had a post about my electric autoharp a while back. Here is an acoustic autoharp that I own. I am not sure how old this one is, but it is similar to some that I have seen dated back to the late 1800's.

The unique thing about this particular autoharp, named "the Silver Queen", is that it has a drawer that slides back and forth to transpose the chords into any key and since the strings are tuned to the chromatic scale, so you can literally play any chord in any key that you wish .

Please do not email me about prices for this or any other items on my blog - for I am just sharing information and not interested in selling any of these instruments.

  1. Really an incredebly instrument!!! About two years ago Ive helped the nuns of a convent, an abbey lost in the hills of Cordoba , Argentina, Isaid Ihelped them in finding a replacement of some Psalterium strings. The picture you posted is very similar to the insttrument I saw, but your is more complex. Incredebly sound due to the open strings action

  2. I have got avery similar instrument, exept its name is IMPERIAL. I got it some 50 years ago from an old relative and was accompanied with an instructional booklet in Finnish. It was printed 1898. I do not want to sell it but it would be interesting to know about its manufacturer. It´s in good playing condition with maybe 95 % of the original strings. I had to use some guitar strings to repair the missing ones. It was a real thrill to see the photos of your autoharp. I try to send a picture if I can.
