I have heard the 100M and thought that the tone was very similar to an SH-101. I really like the way the SH-101 sounds, so I thought that the System 100M sounded good. The System 100 has some nice features and if you really want to hear the sound of the 100, listen to Joy Electric albums from around 2002-2005. He was using nothing but the system 100 then. To me, the 100 was never really capable of deep basses or high highs... I felt that the kick drums weren't as deep and the high hats and percussion weren't as bright as they were once Ronnie started using other synths again (namely Moog). The 100 looks amazing though - especially with the sequencer and 101 module. My question is, does that standard 100 really have such a superior tone?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718486492093992437.post-40171686478220462182013-07-22T13:00:56.250-07:002013-07-22T13:00:56.250-07:00I have never owned a System 100 (not to be confuse...I have never owned a System 100 (not to be confused with the System 100M). I have played with one before, though. My biggest complaint about the system 100 was that it did not have a VCA in or mixer into the VCA. If this was an option, there would be ways to get high pass filtering out of it instead of being stuck with a low pass filter. For being semi-modular, I feel that there could have been more interface options. But overall, it is a great sounding synth.Jon Sonnenberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07129332379330734720noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718486492093992437.post-24011895176940653582013-07-16T22:08:07.883-07:002013-07-16T22:08:07.883-07:00do you own or have ever owned a roland system 100?...do you own or have ever owned a roland system 100? not the modular, but the original? possibly see a post in the future?

also, i'm looking for a step-down voltage converter to convert usa voltage to japanese voltage for MY system 100! any luck with a certain type? thanks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
